Why does My Face send a text message to me the first time I upload an image for my phone number ?
This is done as a security measure in order to prevent people from posting pictures to My Face for phone numbers that do not belong to them. This text message is only sent once unless you modify your phone number. After clicking on the text message your ownership of the phone number is confirmed and you can upload future images without the need to verify your phone number with a text message.
Why isn't My Face available for the iPad and iPod Touch ?
My Face is intended to primarily provide an easy way for iPhone owners to associate pictures with the contacts in their address book so that these images are displayed when someone calls them. Because My Face is so secure, it requires every user to verify their phone number by responding to a text message that is sent to them from the My Face server.
When I upload my picture using My Face is it transmitted and stored securely ?
My Face transmits your photo to the My Face server using state of the art SSL encryption, which is the same type of encryption used by commercial websites for conducting credit card transactions through the internet.
Our privacy policy is simple, your phone number and the image that you upload to our server are solely used for the purpose of address book picture syncing with other My Face users. Other My Face users will need to know your phone number and the first initial of your first or last name in order to retrieve your picture. We will never utilize this information for any other purpose. All communication with the My Face server is done using SSL encryption and we never store anything from you address book on our server.
When I upload my image for the first time the verification text message never arrives, why is this ?
It's probably because you have incorrectly entered your phone number or area code in the settings section of the application. Please correct this information and re-submit your picture.
One of my friends has posted their image to My Face but it doesn't get downloaded when I press the "Get Contact Pictures" button, what could cause this problem ?
You need to have correctly entered the phone number for this person in your address book, and the first or last name that you used for them in your address book must start with the same character that they used when they posted their picture to My Face.
